Our Aims
We are a recovery based site, to which we aim to help people to help themselves with recovering from their issues. We want people to understand that although they have these issues, that these issues do not need to hold them back from achieving anything they want to do in life. Although we offer support on our forums for issues members are experiencing at the moment, we aim to give them enough information through the website and forums to help them to take the steps they need to recover and lead a good life.

A little note from the co-founder
Hello
I am a survivor of abuse, rape, bullying and have experienced mental health issues. I decided to build Rise and Recover so I could help others to recover from their issues. Personally knowing the effects these issues have on people, I want to use my own experiences to show that their is a light at the end of the tunnel and that these issues do not have to rule your life. I have also been effected by the stigma that surrounds these issues and want to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
I am in recovery now, I have had support from the mental health service over the past two years, but they can only do so much. My journey hasnt been an easy one, and in the beginning I fought against everyone. I understand now that I was very unwell and to be honest recovery didnt come into focus at that point. I couldnt see any way of recovering, I felt that I would be like that for the rest of my life, and for a while I lived with that thought. Then something amazing happened and I fell pregnant, all of a sudden I had something to fight for, I had a little life growing inside me. It was as if something clicked inside. I realised I couldnt bring a child into the world living under the influence of that thought. My attitude towards life, my past, present and future all changed. Ive had plenty of hurdles to jump over and obstacles in my way, and some have been extremely difficult to contend with but I started doing small positive steps to help myself, which gradually led to bigger positive steps. Sadly I miscarried, but I'd tasted what life could be like for me if I helped myself to get better. I realised that the support I had around me from my mental health team, friends and family could only help me so far, the rest was up to me. I had the choice to get better.
To be able to recover, a person needs to be at a point in their life to want to recover. I hope that this website will help people to want to recover. Whether they have had problems with abuse, rape, bullying, mental health or self harm, everyone is welcome here.
I wish everybody who uses Rise and Recover all the best in their journey, and if you choose to join our forums, I look forward to chatting to you and supporting you.
